Quality Improvement

SCCHC is committed to improving the quality of services provided by our member hospitals and their related providers. For the 2012-2013 fiscal year, the following statewide quality improvement initiatives have been established:

1. Working with the South Carolina Hospital Association's Every Patient Counts initiative based on the Institute of Medicine's six aims for improvement.
2. Participation in the nation's only children's hospital health engagement network (HEN) led by the Ohio Children's Hospitals - the Solutions for Patient Safety initiative funded, in part, by a multi-million dollar grant from the US Department of Health and Human Service.
3. Identifying and addressing the top three reasons for unplanned readmissions to children's hospitals.
4. Identifying and addressing opportunities for improvement on infection control measures.

In addition to the implementation of a statewide quality improvement agenda, SCCHC supports the quality improvement efforts of the following statewide pediatric specialty consortiums:

LEND
Pulmonology
Neonatology
Surgery
